Empire Lighting Resources, has completed the first phase of a lighting retrofit project for Doral Hyundai of Doral, FL. The initiative was warranted to increase the brightness of the critical paint and body shop area as well as saving energy.

The paint and body shop area lighting consisted of 28-458 watt metal halide fixtures and 22 2-lamp T8 wall mounted fixtures. All HID fixtures were replaced with 144 watt open Hi-Bay fixtures utilizing Empire Lighting Resources VIZ-A-LITE High Vision fluorescent lamps. All existing wall fixture T8 lamps were replaced with T8 VIZ-A-LITE High Vision lamps for additional light. The result, an average of 69% energy savings per fixture and while providing a tremendous improvement in light quality due to the increased CRI (color rendering index) caused by switching from the HID lamps to the high CRI VIZ-A-LITE  lamps.

Estimated annual savings in reduced energy demand will exceed $6,500.00.

Empire Lighting Resources has just completed the makeover of Badar’s Hair ‘N’ All, a full service hair salon. The staff regularly complained about the poor lighting. The owner thought she had solved the problem by adding more fixtures and still more fixtures until the salon looked cluttered.  ELR, using VIZ-A-LITE High Vision lamps, implemented a design to give the staff the light needed to do their detailed work and reduce the layers of light fixtures.

The result of the makeover is a brighter, less congested and more pleasant atmosphere for both the employees and patrons.

Empire Lighting Resources® recently completed an energy-efficient lighting upgrade at the Coral Springs Christian Academy’s gymnasium.

Coral Springs Christian was dealing with high energy costs and inefficient lighting levels. Empire Lighting Resources® designers came up with a new lighting layout for the gym. We removed 48 458 watt metal halide fixtures and replaced them with only 36 222 watt high-bay fixtures with enhanced Miro4 reflectors. The reduction of fixtures was made possible by using our Viz-A-Lite® high vision T8 lamps which are 70% brighter than standard T8 lamps.

The result of the upgrade gave the gymnasium 50% more foot candles, better visibility and a 64% reduction in energy. Additional savings were achieved due to reduced heat load. Metal halide fixtures operate at over 200 degrees, the new high bays, slightly above ambient temperature. All told, monthly savings are estimated to be almost $900.00 per month.

As a side note, the operations manager told us shortly after the completion of the upgrade that their teams, playing under the new lights, had won seven straight games. Sounds like a real home court advantage, on the court and in the accounting office!

Atlas Party Rentals, an event planning company based in Boynton Beach, Florida was looking for ways to increase productivity, light quality and reduce energy costs. Color matching was very important as they create theme settings and linens for their clients.

Empire Lighting Resources®, using our five year guaranteed Viz-A-Lite® high vision lamps, was able to de-lamp all of the four lamp T12 lay-in fixtures, reducing wattage from 192 watts to 96 watts per fixture. Also, all of the 8’ T12 fixtures were retro-fitted to 8’ T8, reducing wattage from 185 to 103 per fixture. With the changes, Atlas Party Rentals lighting costs were reduced by over 50%.

In addition, Atlas financed the entire project for two years with no out of pocket costs. The monthly payments were paid for by the savings generated by the lower energy costs. After the two years, Atlas will have over $200.00 per month in energy savings.

pump-it-upNew Lighting Options Saves Money And Is Good For The Environment….

PIU Management is pleased to announce the addition of Empire Lighting Resources

(ELR) to our ever growing vendor list. As the Director of Site Development, Randy

Baker’s background is rooted in construction so he took a rather skeptical approach

when reviewing the cost savings claims made by ELR. However, after a careful and

thorough review, their fixtures and fluorescent lamps truly do deliver as promised.

Empire Lighting Resources has just completed upgrading the lighting at Farina Orthodontics 4,000 sf clinic. Farina was relatively energy efficient from a lighting perspective as they were already using T8 linear fixtures and CFL fixture for the recessed can lighting. However, the light was not sufficient for the staff.

With the switch to VIZ-A-LITE  High Vision lamps and LED lighting to replace the halogen down lights, Empire enabled Farina to save an additional $2,500 per year in energy savings at current power rates while dramatically improving the quality of light.

The staff was delighted with the change. In addition, color rendering, extremely important for matching shades, was significantly increased.

Empire Lighting Resources has just completed an energy saving and lighting enhancement project at the Seldom Seen Gallery of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Seldom Scene Gallery, chosen as “one of the top retailers of American craft” by Niche Magazine, was looking for ways to reduce energy costs while also increasing the image of the many items they present.

ELR  replaced six existing uplight fan fixtures with nine Hi-Bay T8 fluorescent reflector fixtures with VIZ-A-LITE High Vision fluorescent lamps and electronic ballasts. The increase in overall brightness allowed for the removal of over 90 halogen spotlights, that were needed to light the store.

Due to the changes, Seldom Seen will consume almost 75% less energy to light their facility saving approximately $6,000 per year. The savings are derived from the combination of the energy-efficient fixtures and heat load reduction.
