Atlas Party Rentals, an event planning company based in Boynton Beach, Florida was looking for ways to increase productivity, light quality and reduce energy costs. Color matching was very important as they create theme settings and linens for their clients.
Empire Lighting Resources®, using our five year guaranteed Viz-A-Lite® high vision lamps, was able to de-lamp all of the four lamp T12 lay-in fixtures, reducing wattage from 192 watts to 96 watts per fixture. Also, all of the 8’ T12 fixtures were retro-fitted to 8’ T8, reducing wattage from 185 to 103 per fixture. With the changes, Atlas Party Rentals lighting costs were reduced by over 50%.
In addition, Atlas financed the entire project for two years with no out of pocket costs. The monthly payments were paid for by the savings generated by the lower energy costs. After the two years, Atlas will have over $200.00 per month in energy savings.

Highlands Christian Academy, with a student enrollment that ranges from 3-K through grade12, utilizes their gymnasium all day. Due to soaring energy and maintenance costs, Highlands looked for ways to reduce expenses. Empire Lighting Resources suggested replacing their 36 existing energy consuming 455 watt metal halide fixtures with 192 watt hi-bay T8 fluorescent reflector fixtures with Viz-A-Lite High Vision fluorescent lamps.
By replacing the fixtures, Highlands will save over $7,000 per year in energy costs derived from the combination of the energy-efficient fixtures and heat load reduction. Also, a result of the greatly enhanced brightness of the new lighting system, Highlands will need to only light one-half of the fixtures during daily use. This translates to additional savings of up to 80% of their current overall lighting costs.

This, Pump It Up, is a new franchise location with a build out that had to meet specific lumen requirements as per the corporate guidelines.
The original plans developed to meet these lighting minimums called for 138 (2-lamp T8) fixtures in the 2 main activity arenas. In the non-arena areas the plans called for 57 (4-lamp T8) lay-in fixtures. The owners were concerned about energy consumption and the maintenance cost required on so many fixtures, especially with a 19′ ceiling height. Empire Lighting Resources was called in to re-evaluate the lighting plan.
We determined that the 2 arenas could be effectively lit with 42 (4-lamp) hi-bay reflector fixtures using Viz-A-Lite High Vision fluorescent lamps. This accomplished two areas of savings; first, the originally proposed energy consumption was reduced by 40% and secondly, the cost of the build out, including installation labor and materials was reduced by thousands of dollars.
In the non-arena areas we used 54 lay-in fixtures using 2-F40T12 Viz-A-Lite High Vision fluorescent lamps with electronic ballasts. These changes reduced their energy consumption from 128 watts to 81 watts per fixture without a loss in lumens. Empire Lighting Resources reduced the originally planned 195 fixtures to 96 while meeting or exceeding the corporate office’s lighting requirements.
This new, Pump It Up, location will save approximately $18,000 over the next 3 years in energy and standard lamp replacement costs.

Empire Lighting Resources has just completed an energy saving and lighting enhancement project at the Seldom Seen Gallery of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Seldom Scene Gallery, chosen as “one of the top retailers of American craft” by Niche Magazine, was looking for ways to reduce energy costs while also increasing the image of the many items they present.
ELR replaced six existing uplight fan fixtures with nine Hi-Bay T8 fluorescent reflector fixtures with VIZ-A-LITE High Vision fluorescent lamps and electronic ballasts. The increase in overall brightness allowed for the removal of over 90 halogen spotlights, that were needed to light the store.
Due to the changes, Seldom Seen will consume almost 75% less energy to light their facility saving approximately $6,000 per year. The savings are derived from the combination of the energy-efficient fixtures and heat load reduction.
